Attendance
The goal for Vista del Lago is to have every student attend class daily. If the student is unable to attend school, parents please call the attendance office between the hours of 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. The telephone number is (951) 571-4880 extension 36018. Send a note with the student explaining the reason and dates for the absence. Students are required a re-admit slip to return to class. Re-admit slips are issued before school; lunch and after school. Students have 3 days to clear up an absence.
A student may be excused legally from school when the absence is due to:
- Personal Illness or injury
- Quarantine under the direction of a county or city health officer
- Medical,dental,optometric or chiropractic services
- Attendance at funeral services for a member of the immediate family
- Court appearance
- Religious holiday or ceremony
- Employment interview or conference
- Attendance at funeral services for someone not a member of the immediate family
- Family emergencies
If the student needs to leave during school hours, a note must be presented before the student is released. If we are not able to contact the parent or guardian to verify the note, the student will not be released.

Library The Mary E. Jones Library, dedicated in honor of VLHS's first principal opens daily at 7:10 AM and closes at 3:40PM
The library collection consists of approximately 18,500 volumes. We have an outstanding reference collection of 2,273 volumes. A small percentage of reference is 3-day loan material.
We have approximately 10,980 non-fiction titles and 4,750 fictions titles. We have approximately 497 titles in Spanish.
There are sixteen computers in the library that can be used by students for word processing and research. We also have 2 computerized card catalogs.
We have a large selection of periodicals to support our curriculum.
