Registration for 2008/2009
Registration will be July 28th thru August 1st. The registration packets will be handed out the prior week, July 21 thru July 26. Parents or family members may pick up packets, but must show identification. During registration week, students must be present. Lifetouch ID's will be taken as well as yearbook pictures for grades 9 thru 11. The school dress code will be enforced for pictures.

Weight Room Gets Renovated

With special PE and performing arts money, VLHS was able to refurbish the weight room. Last January the project was completed with the equipment from Team Strength Systems which is a Nebula Fitness Equipment distributor.

VLHS Read 180 Program Teachers Recognized

VLHS is combating illiteracy with a reading intervention program that helps teachers target their students' problem area.

Mr. Rasbach & Ms. Jones receive nomination

Mr. Rasbach, one of our valued math and Engineering teachers, was nominated for Access to the Futures Certificated Staff of the Year award. Ms. Jones, our incredible book keeper, was nominated for Access to the Futures Classified Staff of the Year award. We are proud to have them on our campus. Congratulations Mr. Rasbach and Ms. Jones!!!

Health Careers Pathway gets Grant!
Congratulations to Cindy Dolan at Vista del Lago High School for being the recipient of the one year, $100,000 Health Science Capacity Building Grant! (Not to be confused with the Calif. Partnership Academy grant she submitted earlier in the year.) The grant includes purchasing equipment for EKG certification, an 18 station portable computer lab; provide funding for professional development and providing funding for HOSA membership and State Leadership Conferences. Good job, Cindy. Keep writing!

Girls Golf Team Gets Award

Coach Steve Green was proud of his girls golf team when they were awarded Riverside County Office of Education Academic/Athletic Team Award for 2007/2008 overall GPA of 3.94. This is a high honor. The girls are Shanae Acevado, Aimee Butterfield, Sarah Johnson, Jessica Rico, Mahogany Scott, Lunji Shon, Jamie Lim and Wendi Nwadike.

The Department of Environmental Health has awarded our cafeteria the AWARD of RECOGNITION for 2007 for outstanding food establishment performance.

VLHS's Speech and Debate Team Rocks!

Vista del Lago’s speech and debate team has had a good run this year. It started on February 2, when Dextaur Newberry won second place at the Alpha Phi Alpha competition in San Bernardino and took home a $50 U.S. savings bond for his speech, which addressed high school dropout rates.
