Saturday School

Mission
The goal of Saturday School is to provide an intervention and recuperate lost ADA for those students that have excessive tardies or absences. Excessive means that the students have accumulated six or more tardies or any unexcused absences.

Goal
Vista del Lago High School wants to give those students that are habitually tardy or unverified absent from class the skills and knowledge to be successful in their classes. We are going to provide extensive interventions for reading, writing and math.

Time
Saturday School will be offered every other Saturday in the Commons. Saturday School check-in will begin at 7:45 AM and will be over at 12:10 PM. Doors will be locked at 8:00 AM with no students being accepted past this time.

Session 1: 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM
Break: 10:00 AM – 10:10 AM
Session 2: 10:10 AM – 12:10 PM

Saturday School Criteria
Students will be assigned Saturday school when they have accumulated the following criteria:

Any unverified/unexcused/truant absences.
Six or more tardies.
A tardy of 30 minutes or more.
Students tardy during a tardy sweep.
As assigned by students administrator.
Failure to show will result in a meeting with the student and their administrator. Saturday School may be reassigned or other discipline will be assigned according to the Sequential Discipline Guide.

Place
Students will report to the Commons at 7:45 AM. At 8:00 AM the doors will be locked and all other students will be turned away. Students are to bring homework to work on while they are in Saturday School. Students failing to bring appropriate homework will be given CAHSEE intervention materials.
